Purpose

The Signal Processing Information Base (SPIB) serves as a repository of datasets for both signal processing researchers and application engineers. Its main goal is to provide suitable resources for testing algorithms, systems, and applications under realistic operating conditions. So, SPIB contains datasets obtained from real-world measurements, as well as links to other repositories, all of which are relevant to research and development in signal processing.

Catalog

To provide a clear and concise reference for future researchers, all datasets have been organized into a hierarchical structure, considering both their source and the type of data available. Currently, the following datasets are provided:

Historical remarks

Dating back to 1993, the Signal Processing Information Base (SPIB) was originally a project sponsored by the Signal Processing Society (SPS) and the National Science Foundation (NSF), with the goal of providing a public repository of information related to signal processing research. For approximately 20 years, the website was hosted at Rice University under the supervision of Prof. Don H. Johnson, the creator of the project. When the website eventually became unavailable, we contacted Dr. Johnson to obtain a complete backup of its content, who generously provided it, allowing us to restore the website. Since then, SPIB has been hosted by the Circuits and Signal Processing Laboratory (LINSE) at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, and has been curated by Prof. Eduardo Vinícius Kuhn, who is currently with the Federal University of Technology – Paraná (UTFPR).
